Accessibility

We want OpenCopy to be readable by everyone, and we treat accessibility as ongoing work rather than a finished checkbox.

Our goal

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA across the site: semantic markup, keyboard-navigable controls, sufficient colour contrast and labelled interactive elements.

Reader settings

The reader itself is adjustable: you can change the theme (including light and dark modes), resize the text, and show or hide the interlinear glosses.

Known limitations

Interlinear layout is unusual, and screen readers may read a glossed line as alternating foreign and English words; we're still improving how the reader announces glosses. Some older pages haven't yet had a full keyboard and screen-reader pass.

Tell us what's broken

If you hit a barrier anywhere on the site, please use the contact form and tell us the page and what went wrong — accessibility reports go to the top of the queue.
